PURPOSE: To enhance handleability and environmental acceptability and to generate a high electromotive force and a desired voltage by using a compound having an N-F bond, and generating such energy as electricity via an electrochemical reaction.
CONSTITUTION: In a cell comprised of an anode 1, a compound 2 having an N-F bond, and a cathode collector 3, one kind is selected from N- fluoropyridinium hexafluoroantimonate, N-fluoropyridinium hexafluorophosphate and the like as the compound 2. Energy such as electricity is generated by an electrochemical reaction occurring between the compound having the specific N-F bond and another compound that affords electrons to the compound, so as to facilitate handling and to provide excellent environmental acceptability and an electromotive force as high as 3V or more. Moreover, the cell can be made to have a high energy density, a broad working temperature range and a long life.
