Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily detect even with a large number of sensors, by emitting ultrasonic pulse signals simultaneously from a plurality of ultrasonic sensor for transmission and switching sensors to be reception objects in a time sufficiently shorter than the transmission pulse period for detecting obstacles.
SOLUTION: Front and rear ultrasonic sensors 10 in a vehicle constitutes respective one channel and a plurality of sensor elements are arranged with intervals, in which emitted ultrasonic interferes in the vehicle width direction with each other so as to put transmission ones and reception ones by turns. Also, transmission antennas 18 and reception antennas 20 are arranged by turns in accordance with each element. A signal processing circuit 12 is provided with a reception signal turnover switch 36 for periodically switching reception path between a front reception circuit 32 and a rear reception circuit 34 so as to simultaneously detecting obstacles in the front and in the back and by switching the reception signal from the front sensor and that from the rear sensor in a sufficiently smaller period than the transmission pulse period, obstacles are detected.
