Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform motion compensation processing without making a reproduced image perceptible by decoding a received signal into the motion vector and using it for motion compensation.

CONSTITUTION: A motion vector interpolator 326 receives a rough motion vector(CMV) from a motion vector demodulator decoder 324, a current block from a block converter 316, and a pixel from a frame memory 328. Further, an interpolating circuit 326 compares the current block of a sample supplied from a block converter 310 with the block of a virtual sample in a frame memory 328 offset by a fragment pixel position from the target block having a pixel value indicated by the CMV. Then the motion vector demodulator and decoder extracts encoded motion vectors from a base band composite video signal and a modulated video signal respectively. The motion vectors which are thus decoded are used for the motion vector compensation processing.
