To provide a method and device for inspecting lead frame having a complicated shape, particularly, a lead frame adopting the LOC structure for the presence/absence of short-circuiting on the lead frame.

In a device for inspecting lead frame which is provided with a camera 5 which captures the picture of an object to be inspected, a picture processing section which processes the picture captured by the camera 5, an illuminating light source 6, and a conveyance belt 4 positioned between the light source 6 and camera 5 so that a lead frame 7 can pass through the section between the light source 6 and camera 5, a system which binarizes the picture of the lead frame 7 captured by the camera 5, compares the number A of leads in a prescribed measuring extent with the number B of leads preset in accordance with the kind of the lead frame 7, and discriminates the presence/absence of short-circuiting on the lead frame from the difference between the numbers A and B is provided.
