To provide a metallic sheet joining device for obtaining sufficient joining strength in a short time.
An upper cutting tool 3 having the projection part 30 of a triangular prism shape and a lower cutting tool 4 having a projection part 40 are applied to the superposed part of the metallic sheets 1, 2 to be joined and pushed in obliquely in the thickness direction and in a stroke of a range where the metallic sheet 1, 2 are not completely cut down. The moving loci of the edges of the upper cutting tool 3 and lower cutting tool 4 are lapped so that they are respectively on the inside of the fellow cutting tool and the joining parts are formed by plastic flow deformation of the mutual shear planes of the metallic sheets 1, 2. At this time, because compressive force acts on a part to be joined which is enclosed by the amount of lap and the compressed part is contracted when its joining is completed, the joining strength is improved. Because pressing force by which the mutual shear planes are pressed against each other is generated from their slopes, the compressive force which acts in the joined part is further raised.
