PURPOSE: To record a high-gradation image by light intensity modulation at a high speed by measuring the intensity of a light beam when the output of semiconductor laser light is converged nearly into a stable state.
CONSTITUTION: A laser recording device is constituted by providing the semiconductor laser 1, a beam scanning system which scans the light beam 4 projected by the semiconductor laser 1 on a photosensitive material, and a laser operation control circuit which generates a light emission level command signal corresponding to the image signal and controls the driving current of the semiconductor laser 1 according to the signal to modulate the light intensity of the laser beam. Then light beam intensity corresponding to the value of each test signal S10 is obtained when the test signal S10 is inputted to a laser operation control circuit so as to generate the correction table 40. At this time, the light beam is measured when the output of the semiconductor laser is converged nearly into the stable state to obtain the same result with the measurement of the light beam intensity in the middle of transient variation at the time of image recording without correction.
