Abstract:

PURPOSE: To lubricate a metallic mold safely and automatically with high efficiency without environmental pollution by press-feeding and packing a powder lubricating agent with gas as a medium into the mold to stick said agent onto the mold surface and removing the excess powder lubricating agent by press- feeding of the gas.

CONSTITUTION: The metallic mold for powder compaction is constituted of an upper punch 1, a lower punch 2 and a die 3 and the metallic powder is packed into a cavity 4 and is subjected to pressurized compaction. The lubrication of such mold is executed by covering the top of the die 3 with a pad 5 for preventing splashing of the lubricating agent, press-feeding the lubricating agent with the gas as the medium from a supply port 6 to pack said agent excessively into the cavity 4 and sticking the lubricating agent by cohesive force to the mold surface. The excess lubricating agent is then removed from a removal port 7 by the press-feeding of the gas. The lubricating agent which can be removed from the powder green compact at the sintering temp. or below and is in the powder state at an ordinary temp.; for example, a higher fatty acid or the salt thereof, etc., are used.
