PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device by which a yarn changeover action between a full bobbin and an empty bobbin can be performed easily and reliably, when the yarn continuously fed at a constant speed is taken-up in a turret type take-up machine.

CONSTITUTION: A turret type take-up machine is characterized in such a way that the number of revolution of a cam shaft 17 in a yarn traverse motion means is temporarily reduced only at changeover of yarn between a full bobbin and an empty bobbin. For this purpose, it is so devised as a transmission system for driving a cam shaft 19 comprises at least two sets of driving systems having clutches 12, 28, respectively, the number of revolution of the cam shaft 19 is controlled by switching the clutches 12, 18, and moreover, a one-way clutch requiring no operation is used instead of the clutch 2 on one side.
