PURPOSE: To provide a method or device for making embossed foil web by simplifying embossing.

CONSTITUTION: Embossing is continuously done at the end part of a belt-like foil on which foil webs are sectioned and spaced apart from each other. For this purpose, an embossing device 16 is constituted such that a part of the peripheral surface of an embossing roller 17 is equipped with an embossing segment 22 that works on the belt-like foil in the end area of the foil web to be formed and that the remaining peripheral surface is equipped with a recess 23 that freely guides the belt-like foil.
