Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a device and method by which the quality of a digitally generated picture can be improved by controlling or managing electrostatic forces in a gray-scale picture developing process.
CONSTITUTION: A pulse width controller 10 receives the information on the number of picture elements and gray level assigned to a unit cell and generates a pulse in accordance with a lookup table on which pulse widths are stored in advance by controlling a pulse generator 20 in accordance with the received information. This signal is sent to a picture forming unit 30 and the unit 30 corrects the charges existing in the leading turned-on picture element area in the succeeding on-state picture element area by converting the signal into an ion beam or light beam and changing the state of charges in a charge receptor 40.
