To provide a method and a device for managing a storage space of a slab yard efficiently performing crane work of the slab yard without concentrating loads at a specific crane.
The method for managing the storage space of the slab yard comprises steps of: obtaining information on a plan for carrying in and carrying out; preparing a plurality of slab moving plans between areas from this information; allocating each crane to be used to the respective slab moving plans; obtaining a first evaluation value indicating a degree of a delay time to a work completion schedule time with respect to the respective slab moving plans; extracting the prescribed number of slab moving plans from the top high in the first evaluation value; replacing areas of the slab moving plans by using the storage space of the slab, obtaining a second evaluation value indicating the degree of the delay time to the work completion schedule time with respect to the replaced slab moving plans; and obtaining the slab moving plan highest in the second evaluation value.
