PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for manipulating thermoregulatory status of a mammal.SOLUTION: Thermal energy is transferred between the environment and both the thoracic/abdominal core body and the head of a mammal under negative pressure conditions. The method and the device according to the present invention can be used to increase or decrease the thoracic/abdominal core body temperature of the mammal, and in that case, the thermal energy is introduced or removed into/from the thoracic/abdominal core body of the mammal while removed or introduced from/into the head of the mammal. The device includes at least following components: means 100 for transferring the thermal energy to the thoracic/abdominal core body under negative pressure conditions; and means for transferring the thermal energy to the head. The method and the device can be applied in various uses, especially suitable in the case where temperature and/or temperature gradient of one or more areas of the core body is made to be deviated from a normal condition.
