To provide a method and a device for manufacturing a flat yarn package capable of regulating the flat yarn package to a consistent tow shape and rolling up the yarn with less twisted state even when a filament number is large and the tow shape is wide.
A flat roller and a packing roller having the radius R of curvature of 5-15 mm at a groove bottom are used as guide rollers so that the flat roller is firstly brought into contact with the yarn while the axes of rotation being substantially parallel to each other. The rollers are arranged so that the length A of the flat yarn between the flat roller and the packing roller is 50-150 mm, and the holding angles α and β of the flat yarn on the flat roller and the packing roller are ≥ 120° and ≤ 180°, and the flat yarn is rolled up.
