To provide a method and a device for easily and accurately measuring abrasion amount of a contact surface with a vehicle hub of a wheel due to fretting wear.

In this device 10 for measuring the abrasion amount, a measuring element 12c of a linear gage 12 is mounted in a rectangular parallelepiped shaped abutting member 11 to be movable in a direction perpendicular to an abutting surface 11a of the abutting member 11. A distal end of the measuring element 12c is located in a circular annular shaped region having large abrasion amount, and the abutting surface 11a of the abutting member 11 is placed on a vehicle hub mounting surface of the wheel to be measured to be in contact with a substantially circular annular shaped region surrounded by a circle connecting the wheel radial direction outside of bolt insertion holes provided in the wheel and a circle connecting the wheel radial direction inside. Projecting amount of the measuring element 12c from the abutting surface 11a is measured and displayed.
