Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for measuring idle block band of packet exchange network with which load on a packet exchange network is reduced and the idle band of a desired block can be measured.
SOLUTION: Plural test packets are respectively transmitted from a measuring instrument 1 through one route to two transmission object nodes located at both ends of a measuring object block, packet transfer delay time to two transmission object nodes is measured, the minimum value and average value of the measured values are found, the sum of average latency in the queue of respective nodes, which the packet passes from the measuring instrument to the transmission object node, is calculated by these values, the block average latency of the queue to the measuring object block is calculated from the difference of sums of the average latency provided concerning respective two transmission object nodes, the measuring object block is made into queue model and the idle band is calculated by performing queue model calculation on the basis of the block average latency.
