PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy in measuring by respectively measuring the positions of a centering roll and tracer roll of a ring rolling machine and operating the outer diameter of a ring rolling material by using a specified equation.
CONSTITUTION: A king roll 1 and maddrel roll 2 are arranged in opposition and a tracer roll 5 is arranged on the center line 4 of the rolls 1, 2. A 1st detection means 6 detecting the position of the tracer roll 5 is provided, a 2nd detection means 15 detecting the turning amt. of the supporting arm 8 of a centering roll 7 is arranged as well and the respective detection signal is input to an arithmetic means 17 via an inputter 16. The outer diameter Dy, Dθ of a rolled stock 3 is operated based on the measurement of 1st and 2nd detection means 6, 15 and the actual outer diameter D of the rolled stock 3 is operated by using an equation I. Due to the outer diameter D being operated from 2 kinds of measured values Dy, Dθ by using a correct arithmetic expression the measuring accuracy of the outer diameter D is improved.
