Abstract:

To provide a method and a device for operating an internal combustion engine enabling the high rotation regularity and/or maximum efficiency of the internal combustion engine.

In this method for operating the internal combustion engine in which supply air regulators 13 and 20 are disposed in the intake area 11 of the internal combustion engine 10, an ignition device 19 with variable igniting angle (zw) is installed in the internal combustion engine, and a λ controller or a λ operation means 31 is installed to set the λ target value (lam-soll) of the air/fuel mixture of the internal combustion engine, at least one operation variable (zws, wdks, v) of the internal combustion engine is directly adjusted as the function of an actually present combustion chamber λ (lam-ist). When the combustion chamber λ (lam-ist) varies, the operation variable (zws, wdks, v) can be determined so that the efficiency of the internal combustion engine can be optimized and/or a variation in a torque (mi) supplied from the internal combustion engine can be minimized.
