Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce minipellets strong as the raw material of sintered ore for blast furnaces at a low cost from fine powder raw materials by charging the fine powder raw materials into a kneading machine having compaction media under addition of water and applying circular oscillations to the raw materials to form the materials into a flaky state, then charging the materials into a pelletizing machine and briquetting the materials under rolling.

CONSTITUTION: The powder raw materials 14 formed by compounding limestone, powder coke, quicklime, returns of sintered ore, etc., at prescribed ratios with powder iron ore contg. ≥60wt.% fine powder of <63mm grain size and adding 5 to 7% water thereto are charged into the kneading machine 50. The kneading machine 50 is formed of a drum 52, contains many pieces of steel bars as the compaction media therein and kneads the raw materials at 3 to 10G (G is gravity acceleration) oscillation acceleration of circular oscillations by an exciting machine 54, thereby compacting and plasticizing the raw materials to the flaky state. The raw materials are charged into the drum-shaped pelletizing machine 60 and are rolled and briquetted under ≥3G oscillation acceleration applied thereon by an exciting machine 64 to form the minipellets 68. The minipellets are sieved and ≥10mm pellets are used as the raw material for the sintered ore. The pellets sized below 10mm are returned to the kneading machine 50 and are treated again.
