Title:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PERMITTING AUTHORIZED REUSE OF DISPOSABLE CAMERA UNDER PREVENTION OF UNAUTHORIZED RECYCLE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3676470
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of the unauthorized recycle of a disposable camera by disabling one of camera functions such as an electronic flash, when the frame counter of the camera shows the attainment of the maximum frame number of a film roll in the camera.
SOLUTION: In order to initialize a counter 55 and restore an electronic flash function for enabling the authorized reuse of a camera loaded with a new film roll, a reset code needs to be inputted to the camera via a code input device 57. This code input device 57 reads out a recognition code saved in an IC 51 built into the camera, and further reads out a corresponding reset code from a lookup table 69 for the output thereof to the IC 51. If a function application code saved in the IC 51 does not agree to the reset code, the electronic flash function is permanently invalid, or cannot be restored over the prescribed period.
