PURPOSE: To interrupt a carrier cylinder for absorbing a positional discrepancy of a work to be transferrd, by shifting a shift stopper, in the opposite direction, by a distance as much as the that of shift from a shift sensor to the work.
CONSTITUTION: A reference feed l of a work 6' to be guided is determined and a guide position A is also set previously. As a shift sensor 7 is positioned according to the schedule and then shifted by Ymm toward the work 6', the sensor 7 detects the rear end of the work 6' and stops immediately. Being synchronized with this shift, a shift stopper 8 which is interlocked with the sensor 7 shifts by Ymm in the opposite direction and stops. Then a cylinder 4 is driven to provide the work 6' with a feed by means of a piston rod 5, which causes the work 6' to shift by (A-Y)mm more and stops at the preset position A and the rod 5 comes in touch with the stopper 8 for inhibiting further shift.
