PURPOSE: To perform correct positioning of a film without necessitating an expensive automatic control guide device, by a method wherein restraint of a transfer film through a feed roll device is released temporarily, during which lateral slip and creases are corrected.

CONSTITUTION: A driving roll 73 of a feed roll device 200 is revolved at high speed and a transfer film 71 placed between the driving roll 73 and a pressing roll 72 is sent out from a coil 69. A jump device 100 is operated temporarily during movement of the film 71 at high speed, the pressing roll 72 is lifted up from the driving roll 73 and the transfer film 71 is turned into an unrestrained state. At this time, as the film 71 is restrained by a pull roll device 202, the film 71 is moved at high speed by a fall of a dancer roll 77 through its empty weight. During the above period, widthward position of the film 71 is controlled by a coller 70a of a guide roll 70 and a collar 78a of a guide roll 78 and a lateral slip and creases are eliminated.
