Abstract:
PURPOSE:To decrease a thermal conduction amount, by a method wherein a gromet part, located to an end part on the heat source side, is formed thicker than a bead part spaced away from the gromet so that the pressure of a contact surface to a joint is increased. CONSTITUTION:A metallic gasket 30 is located between a head joint 22 of a cylinder head 6 and a flange joint 26 of a mounting flange 24, and is compressed through the tightening force of a bolt. Thicknesses T1 of a first gromet part 42 on the periphery of a port hole part 40 and a second gromet part 48 on the periphery of a bolt hole part 46 are increased by a thickness, equal to a gap Tc, over a thickness T2 of a central portion between the first gromet part 42 and the second gromet part 48. Thus, compared with a conventional gasket, enables a contact area to be decreased over the area of the flange joint 26, permits isolation of heat from an exhaust manifold 18, decreases a thermal conduction amount, and prevents increase of the temperature of the cylinder head 6.
