Abstract:

PURPOSE: To mirror-process the tip part of the optical fiber without fail by melting the tip edge of the optical fiber by the heating plate and melting respec tive optical cables by using the cable holding cylinder.

CONSTITUTION: In one edge of an optical cable 16, a housing 18 is separated by a few dimensions α only, for example, A+0.1mm longer than the prescribed dimensions from the tip, namely, dimensions A of the fiber holding part. Next, the optical cable 16 is inserted into a cable holding cylinder 21, an optical fiber is inserted into a fiber holding part 22 and simultaneously, the housing 18 part is inserted into a cable holding part 23. Next, when an operating lever 11 is pressed against a tensile spring 21, a lever 9 is turned with a shaft 8 as a center and a heating plate 3 is shifted in the upper direction. At such a time, a switch 5 is actuated, the electric current flows at a heater 2 and the heating plate 3 is heated. Next, the cable holding cylinder 21 is inserted into a hole 15 of a holding frame 14, the tip edge is pushed to a surface 3a of the heating plate 3, and then, the protruded part is melted from the cable holding cylinder 21 of the optical fiber 17 and the tip part is finished to the mirror surface.
