PURPOSE: To obtain a compact and portable developing device which is suitable for an office, which is easily operated, whose maintenance is facilitated and whose liquid consumption is reduced by specifying the quantity of washing for replenishing per one square feet of a photosensitive material to be processed.
CONSTITUTION: The photosensitive material is passed through the plural baths 138, 140 and 142 of the washing including the bath 134 of developer, the bath 136 of fixer, the first washing bath 138 and the final washing bath 142 and the washing is recycled in a reverse direction to the carrying direction of the photosensitive material with respect to the baths 138, 140 and 142. Then, the washing for replenishing is supplied to the bath 142 by the quantity being equal to or under about 50ml per one square feet of the photosensitive material to be processed. Thus, the compact and portable developing device which is suitable for the office, easy for operation and maintenance, reduced, in liquid consumption and hardly hazardous to a human being and an environment is obtained.
