Abstract:
To provide a simplified method and device for producing granular materials in large quantity.SOLUTION: A raw material powder 9 mounted on a support 1 is irradiated with a light beam 3 to allow the raw material powder 9 to be melted and sintered. When the raw material powder 9 is irradiated with the light beam 3, a melted body or a sintered body of the raw material powder 9 floats slightly out of a layer of the raw material powder 9 mounted on the support 1. The melted body or the sintered body is shaped into a generally spherical form while floating and then is naturally cooled in atmospheric air or an atmosphere of a particular gas while slightly falling freely, so that a granular material in the generally spherical form is produced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
