PURPOSE: To produce a composite material which has an optional sectional shape and permits optional arrangement of a core material by extruding a coating metal so as to enclose the core material in a tight contact state.
CONSTITUTION: A high temp. extrudable billet 6, for example, Al material or the like is pressed with a stem 5 and the billet 6 is passed through a port hole 7 and a die 1, whereby the billet is extruded. In this stage, the preceding end of a hollow pipe 8 is beforehand projected from the die 1 through a passage 9, and while a coating material 6A extruded from the die 1 past the hole 7 is held in tight contact with the pipe 8, the pipe 8 is extruded by drawing the same from the die 1. Since the material 6A is of high temp. and melt sticks on the outside surface of the pipe 8 in tight contact therewith, the composite material formed integrally with the material 6A of the Al material or the like on the pipe 8 of a steel material simultaneously with the extrusion working is perfected.
