To provide a method for realizing a stream link in a voice/image disk medium and a device for the method.

A voice/image stream is set up in a disk drive device, and consecutive data are accessed with a read command and a write command. When a main stream which has been established exists, the stream link is established by sending to the disk drive device a request for the stream link provided with the number of the main stream. A new stream takes over the starting address and ending address of the main stream. When the pointer of a linked stream gets ahead of the pointer of the main stream, a pointer-overrun warning is set.
