Abstract:

To provide the method and device for character recognition which can cut a character as a user intends.

A cut area generating means 130 generates a cut area according to stroke data written with an integrated type display input means 110, and generates and displays a character frame showing the external edge of the cut area on a display means 114. Further, a cut area generating means 130 deforms the character frame through user's operation of the integrated type display input means 110 and displays the deformed character frame on the display means 114. A character cutting means 140 determines a set of strokes constituting one character according to handwriting strokes and the cut area, and cuts strokes belonging to the same character, and a character recognizing means 150 recognizes the stroke set to output a candidate character.
