Abstract:

To provide a simpler, safer and more economic means for reducing the concentration of small organic compounds in a biological fluid while substantially maintaining biological activity of the purified fluid.

The device reduces the concentration of small organic compounds in a blood product while substantially maintaining desired biological activity of the blood product, the device comprising highly porous adsorbent particles, wherein the adsorbent particles are immobilized by an inert matrix. The device can be a flow device.
