Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a repairing method for a bright point defect such that a bright point can be made into a black point through a simple process without influencing peripheral pixels and the black point is maintained without being put back into the bright point with time.
SOLUTION: Disclosed is the method for repairing a bright-point defect pixel (B) of a liquid crystal display device equipped with a couple of substrates (20a, 20b), a liquid crystal layer (10) interposed between the couple of substrates, and alignment films (12a, 12b) which is provided between the substrates and liquid crystal layer to control alignment of liquid crystal of the liquid crystal layer. The method includes a process of locally decreasing or eliminating the alignment control force of the alignment films by irradiating a range of the alignment films corresponding to the bright-point defect pixel with laser light and is characterized in that when liquid crystal is displayed, the bright-point defect pixel is repaired by decreasing the intensity of light transmitted through the range where the alignment control force is decreased or eliminated.
