PURPOSE: To improve the quality and strength of a sheet-end part as well as to improve the accuracy of sheet width, etc. by subjecting the width-end surface to rolling reduction while restricting the inner side position from the width-end face of a metallic sheet stock from its upper and lower sides, to increase the rolling reduction in width direction.
CONSTITUTION: A gap between clamping roll-bodies 3 is previously adjusted, by adjusting a gap between vertical rolls 11 in accordance with the width of a sheet stock 9, and supplying a pressurized oil to cylinder chambers 2 in accordance with the thickness of stock 9. When the stock 9 is fed, its front end enters in between the rolls 3, 3 in a state of being bitten by them, and its width-end surfaces are forced out to the downstream side with the rotations of bodies 1 of vertical rolls 11 while reducing he width of stock 9. At that time, a rolling down force by the bodies 1 acts mainly to form dog bones 9a without heavily acting on the central part of stock 9, and the buckling of stock 9 is not produced even when the stock 9 is subjected to large rolling reduction in its width direction because the stock is restricted in its width direction by the rolls 3. Accordingly, a wide thin stock is easily subjected to rolling reduction, and the strength of sheet-end parts is improved by subjecting the once bulged parts to rolling reduction in their thickness direction at the outlet side.
