PURPOSE: To establish a rot preventing method for a water soluble oil solution and provide a device to embody it, with which the rot preventing effect made free from risk of lowering by means of continued generation of copper ions.
CONSTITUTION: A vessel 1 is installed on the way of a circulating path for a water soluble cutting oil 4, and therein electrodes 5, 6 consisting of copper plate are arranged which are connected with a DC power supply 8 through a timer switch 7 having a positive/negative inserting function with the aid of a timer, and below these electrodes 5, 6 a rinsing device 9 is installed which consists of an ultrasonic transmitter connected with a power supply 11 through another timer switch 10, whereby copper ions are generated by feeding current to between the electrodes 5, 6 in the condition that the cutting oil 4 flows through the vessel 1. These are included in the cutting oil 4, and the electrodes 5, 6 are irradiated with ultrasonic waves while the rinsing device 9 is operated for a certain time at regular intervals. The surfaces of the electrodes 5, 6 are rinsed at regular intervals, and the generation of copper ions from the electrodes 5, 6 is continued until a certain specified level 15 attained by the copper ion concentration in the cutting oil during transit.
