To provide a method and device of separating a sheet-like magnetic material for precisely floating and separating the sheet-like magnetic material tangled with burrs.

This method is provided for floating and separating the sheet-like magnetic material S stacked by intermittently exciting separating electromagnets 5 and 5 arranged on both sides of the stacked sheet-like magnetic material S via a partition frame 4 composed of a nonmagnetic substance by a predetermined frequency. This device is composed of the separating electromagnets 5 and 5 arranged on both sides of the sheet-like magnetic material S stacked on a receiving table 3 via the partition frame 4 of the nonmagnetic substance and a power circuit 50 for intermittently exciting the separating electromagnets 5 and 5 by the predetermined frequency so that the sheet-like magnetic material S floats and separates, and can surely attract only one sheet without simultaneously attracting a plurality of sheets.
