PURPOSE: To eliminate vacuum suction between the uppermost and next steel sheets to simplify the suspension of the same, by suspending the one end of the uppermost steel sheet by means of an electromagnet provided at one end of the crane beam to introduce air between the uppermost and next steel sheets before the uppermost steel sheet is entirely suspended.
CONSTITUTION: Upon suspending operation, a crane beam 1 is set at the center, in the lengthwise and widthwise directions, of the uppermost steel sheet 3' of stacked steel sheets 3, and a plurality of suspending absorption pads 2 are suitably arranged on the steel sheet 3' on account of the gravitational center of the latter. Then, a main support arm rod 4 is slidingly moved in the direction orthogonal to the crane beam 1 while the branching rod 5 of a support arm is slidingly moved in the direction orthogonal to the main support arm rod 4, and an electromagnet 7 is suitably positioned on the uppermost steel sheet 3' at its one end in the lengthwise and widthwise directions thereof. Thereafter the crane beam 1 is suspended to suspend the end, in the lengthwise and widthwise directions, of the steel sheet 3' before the absorption pads 2 suspend the uppermost steel sheet 3'. Thereby, the vacuum action due to the closed contact between the uppermost steel sheet 3' and the next steel sheet 3" may be eliminated to simplify the suspending operation.
