PURPOSE: To treat a waste water containing specified org. halogen compds. by keeping the waste water at specified temp. and pressure for specified dwell time, subjecting the water to dechlorination and dehydrochlorination under specified conditions, then carrying or biologically treating the water.
CONSTITUTION: A waste water containing adsorbable org. halogen compds. by >10 mg/l and having 10 to 14 pH discharged from a reactor is passed through a heat exchanger 8 and heating device 9 and supplied into a dechlorination reactor or dehydrochlorination reactors 4, 5, 6 and maintained at >75°C and 1 bar pressure for about 0.5 hour dwell time. Then the water is subjected to dechlorination and/or dehydrochlorination in a reactor 7 in the presence of a hydrogen-contg. gas or a compd. which releases hydrogen and/or in the presence of a catalytic substance. The treated waste water is carried from the reactor 7 and/or subjected to biological treatment by using bacteria.
