Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for using an extended data output(EDO) memory device in a memory system designed for a fast page mode(FPM) memory device.
SOLUTION: The device includes a memory controller 108 allowed to be driven in accordance with the operation of the FPM memory device and capable of storing and retrieving data by applying row and column addresses and allowing these addresses to correspond to a strobe signal including a column address strobe signal CAS*, an EDO memory device 111 having an output operation enabled input for receiving the column address strobe signal CAS*. A user for the FPM system obtains a profit for substituting an EDO memory module for an FPM memory module, so that quality can be improved to upto- date technology without requiring the maintenance of old stock control for the FPM device.
