Abstract:
To perform virtual path switching of ATM cells in a process communication satellite.
A group of VPIs relating to the output port of a satellite is specified (104), the VCI of the group is set (106), and one VPI and one VCI are assigned to an ATM cell (108). Then the ATM cell is transmitted up to the input port of the satellite (110) and received by the port. A relative output port is detected (114) and the ATM cell is transferred up to the output port (116).
