Abstract:

To provide a method capable of directly restarting a CAI operation mode after one time of fuel supply intercepting state, without converting into an SI operation mode, in a spark ignition type internal combustion engine.

To a request signal TR, a fuel sub injection amount FUV is injected into a combustion chamber after closure time tS of an exhaust valve EV1 of a cylinder C1 positioned in an exhaust stroke when the fuel supply intercepting stage is finished. Mixture formed by the step is spark-ignited and burned in a middle compressing stage IC in the exhaust stroke. Therefore, exhaust gas of high temperatures is formed in the combustion chamber, and fresh air FA is sucked into the combustion chamber in an intake stroke. Fuel main injection amount FUH is injected into the combustion chamber at a main compressing stage in a compression stroke, and exhaust gas capacity generated on the basis of sub injection is mixed with the mixture supplied to main injection. Therefore, homogeneous fresh air/exhaust gas/fuel mixture enabling CAI self-ignition is formed.
