Title:
METHOD FOR DIRECTLY ROLLING HIGH-SI STEEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0238526
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily and directly roll a continuous cast billet of a high-Si steel having specified contents of C and Si while preventing its cracking by charging the billet into a heating furnace without cooling the billet below a specified temp., soaking and hot-rolling.

CONSTITUTION: A high-Si steel contg. ≤0.10wt.% C and 1.50-6.50wt.% Si is continuously cast. The obtained cast billet is not cooled below the temp. specified by the equation T=α.(Si wt.%)2+β (where T is the upper-limit temp. exhibiting a decrease in ductility, α is a coefficient of 9.0, and β is 220°C), and charged into a heating furnace to prevent the cracking of the billet. The billet is then soaked, and hot-rolled. By this method, cracking due to the coarse crystal grain is prevented, and high-Si steel can be directly rolled.
