Abstract:
To provide a method for discriminating a disk by using the a ratio of peak-to-peak values of a 1st S-Curve signal to a 2nd S-Curve signal irregularly reflected and outputted from a recording medium.
The method includes a step for discriminating the disk by using a signal irregularly reflected from the pits formed on the disk when the recording surface of the disk is irradiated with light, and the steps for (a) detecting the ratio of the peak-to-peak values of the 1st irregular reflection signal to the 2nd irregular reflection signal, and (b) discriminating the kind of the disk on the basis of the magnitude of the irregular reflection signal and the detected ratio.
