PURPOSE: To provide a method for disinfecting a contact lens which does not induce the stimulus to the eyes by a disinfectant remaining after the disinfection of a contact lens.

CONSTITUTION: The contact lens to be disinfected is put into an electrolyte contg. a chlorine dioxide precursor material and a current is passed to this electrolyte, by which the chlorine dioxide of the amt. effective for disinfection is formed. Then, the chlorine dioxide dissipates after the disinfection and, therefore, the stimulus to the eyes does not arise.
