Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method and mechanism for displaying a pop-up menu which is suitable to a graphical user interface, particularly to an input device to be used.
CONSTITUTION: After a user initializes a computer system (step 60), the user requests the computer system to display a pop-up menu (step 62) by clicking a mouse operation button or inputting several key strokes on a keyboard for example. The operation system sends the information to show a specific input method that is selected (step 64) to an application. The application decides which is used as an input device between a keyboard or a mouse (step 66). When the input device is a keyboard, a pop-up menu suitable to the keyboard operation is displayed (step 68). When the input device is a mouse, a pop-up menu suitable to the mouse operation is displayed (step 70).
