PURPOSE: To make automatic analysis of the texture of a textile by subjecting the data to a digital image processing using a computer.

CONSTITUTION: A sample cloth to be analyzed is put under a microscopic photographing machine, and if a computer program is started, the photographing machine enlarges the sample cloth, and an image plate inside the computer digitizes the image of the textile. Then the computer performs automatic processing analysis for the textile image. That is, photographing of the image and turning it two-dimensionally are made, and also noise removal and turning thinner are conducted, and at the same time, the center line of the thread and the boundary line are sensed, followed by discrimination of floating warps and wefts so that the texture of the textile is obtained. Finally the perfect texture diagram of the sample cloth and the chain draft can be given on the display of the computer, and thus the automatic analysis and automatic textile control are accomplished.
