To provide a breaking and dividing method suited for mass-producing broken and divided connecting rods.

A number of pallets 10, 10... on which to place an integral molding 20 of a connecting rod are moved in one direction. The pallet 10 is provided with a split dividing jig 12 that moves back and forth in the longitudinal direction of the rod. Guide grooves 30, 30 are provided along a pallet conveying line. When the pallet 10 passes the curved parts of the guide grooves 30, 30, the dividing jig 12 is opened and closed as it is guided by the curved parts, and breaks and divides the large end 22 of the integral molding 20 of the connecting rod.
