Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a belt, which method makes it possible to obtain images of which registration is matched within a short time during driving of the belt for image formation by decreasing the amount of initial meandering of the belt in driving the belt.
SOLUTION: The method for driving the belt to make it possible to previously move a bearing roller 33 disposed to adjust the transverse position of the belt to an equilibrium point at which the rate of change in the transverse position of the belt 30 attains a specified value or below before driving the belt 30 in the operation to seek the initial home position relating to the belt driving is provided. According to such method for driving the belt, the amount of initial meandering of the belt is decreased and the time before the images whose registration is matched are obtained can be drastically shortened during driving of the belt for the purpose of image formation.
