PURPOSE: To provide a method for operating a directly weaving device capable of feeding perfect wefts to prevent the generation of defects of the woven fabric, even when storage drums are used.
CONSTITUTION: A method for driving a directly weaving device in which a weft-processing machine 5 having storage drums 15 is connected to a loom 1 for feeding wefts is characterized by controlling the driving of the storage drums 15 in connection with the driving of the weft-processing machine 5. In the method, imperfect wefts are passed through the storage drums 15 as waste fibers as such and subsequently sucked into a waste fiber-removing pipe 46 until the weft-processing machine 5 is started and stably driven. After a prescribed time, the traveling wefts are wound up on the storage drums 15 as preliminary wound wefts, and subsequently the loom 1 is started at a time synchronous with the formation of the preliminary wound wefts.
