To provide a method of driving an electrophoretic display for suppressing the occurrence of an overwrite state, and obtaining a display at a uniform density.
The method of driving the electrophoretic display includes: a first image display step (S102) of setting a pixel electrode belonging to pixels for displaying a first gray scale of a first image to have the same potential as a counter electrode or a high impedance state , and inputting a pixel electrode potential corresponding to the first gray scale to the pixel electrode belonging to the pixel for displaying a second gray scale of the first image as a step of updating the first image displayed on a display section to the second image; and a second image display step (S103) of setting the pixel electrode belonging to the pixels for displaying the first gray scale of a second image to have the same potential as the counter electrode or a high impedance state, and inputting the pixel electrode potential corresponding to the second gray scale to the pixel electrode belonging to the pixel for displaying the second gray scale of the second image.
