PURPOSE: To prevent the degradation in the picture quality by inhibiting output of display data to an electrode group for display selection in the period when the waveform in the rise and the fall of a scan signal is not stable.

CONSTITUTION: When display data one one line is latched in a latch circuit in an X-direction driver, this display data is outputted from this latch circuit to a group of electrodes X1 to X320. In this case, output of display data to the group of electrodes for display selection is inhibited in the period when the waveform in the rise and the fall of the scan signal is not stable. Consequently, through the waveform of the scan signal outputted to a group of electrodes Y1 to Y240 for successive scanning is made dull in the rise and the fall by an influence of electrode capacities and the liquid crystal capacity, display data is not outputted to the group of electrodes X1 to X320 for display selection in the period when it is made dull. Thus, dullness of the waveform of the scan signal has no bad incluences upon display of a liquid crystal display panel 1.
