Title:
METHOD OF DRIVING RADIATION DETECTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3520613
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable normal operation even if a high dosage of X-ray enters a detector by setting the condition of bias application in a space charge limit current area.
SOLUTION: A common electrode 2 is made on one side of a compound semiconductor substrate 1, and a plurality of divided electrodes 3... 3 are made on the opposite side. Reverse bias is applied to the electrode 2, and in this condition, charge pulses are generated when a radiation enters it. Moreover, preliminary amplifiers 3a...3a are connected, respectively, to several electrodes 3...3. This has features in that the condition of bias application is set in space charge limit current area, and that the single crystal doped with chlorine is used as a substrate 1. Operating a detector under such condition will stop the counting rate at the time of a high dosage of X-ray enters it, and further enable the preservation of the counting stability in high X-ray dosage area.
