To read out a noise-suppressed reproduction image from a sensor where each photosensitive cell is constituted of three transistors.
A photosensitive cell comprises a photodiode 1, a transfer gate 2, a floating diffusion layer part 3, an amplification transistor 4, and a reset transistor 5. The drain of the amplification transistor 4 in the photosensitive cell is connected with a power supply line 10 applied with a pulsating power supply voltage VddC. The power supply line 10 has a high level at first in a horizontal blanking period and is brought into a low level temporarily before returning back to a high level, and is kept at the high level in a horizontal effective period. Since a time T can be secured for the photosensitive cells arranged in some row until noise suppression processing is performed after the power supply line 10 is brought into the high level, the substrate potential of the photosensitive cell becomes substantially constant between respective pixels and a noise-suppressed reproduction image can be read out from the sensor.
